‘Self-care is how you take your power back’ – Lalah Delia
I am a fully accredited psychotherapist/counsellor, therapeutic workshop facilitator, community builder and self-taught artist. I also offer psycho-spiritual coaching for those who wish to explore what Spirituality means to them. and how to integrate this aspect of themselves into everyday life.
I have a background in the humanities, and 25 years’ experience in Mental Health and Well-Being. This has been in the voluntary, public and private sectors.
I often get asked the question ‘what’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?’
My understanding is that both offer a safe, confidential space to feel heard and validated. Counselling tends to be shorter-termed and focuses on a specific issue, whereas Psychotherapy can be a longer process as it explores how early experiences and relationships can impact the present. Both processes help gain awareness and insight, and facilitate an individuals trust in their own self-worth and ability to make their own decisions.
Alongside talking, the sessions that I offer can also integrate guided imagery, breath-work techniques, and many other self-care practices if requested.
All of the above aid the healing process and can lead to a deeper understanding your sense of well-being and purpose.
In addition I offer team/group support, mentoring, and well-being workshops. Details of these can be found on the Safe Space Therapeutic Workshops page of this website.
I adhere to the BACP’s ethical guidelines; this includes participating in on-going seminars, workshops and courses to enhance my own personal and professional development.
I am a warm, empathic person who can offer you a safe, confidential space in which to explore yourself at your own pace.

Following a background in the Arts and a degree in English Literature with Drama, I became interested in Psychology and Human Relations, and completed a post-graduate diploma in Counselling. This focused primarily on the humanistic theories. (Person- Centred, Gestalt and Transactional-Analysis)
I then completed a year’s certificate in analytic Group Psychotherapy, which gave me more knowledge and insight into the Psychodynamic way of working, and highlighted how profoundly our early relationships and experiences can affect our present situation.
I worked for several years counselling in a project for offenders with poly drug-use, where I also completed an introductory course in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.
After this I increased my knowledge and experience of this particular theoretical orientation whilst working at the Priory in Hove, where I facilitated a variety of psycho-educational therapy groups.
I have worked at Sea-side View Child Development Centre at Brighton general hospital, counselling parents of children with learning disabilities and/or behavioural difficulties, and facilitated support groups in connection with mASCot. (Families affected by ASC/Neurodiversity)
I have also co-facilitated outdoor, nature-based community family art sessions, and run art groups at a local care home for people with learning disabilities.
In addition to the above, I have completed a course in Mindfulness Meditation which is a practice that can benefit the majority of people, and complements the therapeutic process.

Voluntary pursuits include helping out at Lewes Unity Centre, Plot 22 at the community allotment in Hove, and being a founding member and Partner of BrightSky Community. This involved organising and facilitating regular networking meetings for well-being practitioners and creatives.
I have had classical training in singing and have performed in several concerts, and I’m currently learning the harmonium with a view to co-facilitating Kirtans (devotional chanting sessions) at some point in the future.
Other interests of mine are include reading, writing, walking, painting, up-cyling, travelling and sustaining our beautiful planet.
