Safe-space Personal Development

'"The greatest challenge of life is how to enjoy it" -   Nathaniel Brandon

The idea of running the following workshops has originated from my own personal and professional experience as a counsellor/psychotherapist, artist and as a parent.

In a rapidly changing world that has given way to significant transitions on a collective and personal level, I became aware of a deep isolation and an increasing need for individuals to experience a deeper sense of connection to themselves, others and their environment.

What I aim to give in these workshops is an experience that will enable individuals to respond to ourselves and others in a more constructive way, allowing us to live more meaningful and fulfilling lives.

My hope is that out of our individual and collective chaos will emerge, in time, a more accepting, compassionate and enlightened state of consciousness.

‘I say unto you: One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.’  - Nietzsche

Discovering Self-Worth

One day - £65

Explore origins of low self-worth and its various manifestations

Learn ways of dealing with self-defeating thoughts and behaviour, integrating acceptance and compassion.

This will include discussions, practical and meditative exercises on the concept of self-worth/self-esteem, considering the following questions-

What does this mean to us?

How do we measure it?

Are the ways in which we measure our self-esteem actually detrimental to our sense of self-worth?

How can we feel genuine confidence and a sense of authenticity?

We will also explore the importance of effective communication and how this is imperative to more constructive intrapersonal (how we relate to ourselves) and interpersonal (how we relate to others) relationships.

The workshop will include concepts of neuro-linguistic programming, assertiveness training and non-violent communication.

Self-exploration through the Arts

One day - £75

Explore perceptions of our artistic abilities

Examine/question limiting beliefs that we may have learnt about our creativity.

Give ourselves permission to experiment and ‘play’.

In western culture, imagination, intuition, spontaneity and lateral thinking has been hugely undervalued and therefore neglected.

This has led to the majority of people becoming ‘stuck’ in the part of the brain where cognitive processes necessary for reason, logic, linear thinking and  problem solving reside, creating an imbalance that contributes to our perfectionist, goal driven life-style.

This workshop will include a combination of questions, discussions, practical and creative exercises to help us access and experiment with the creative part of our being, allowing us to learn that we are more than we think we are.

Introduction to Psycho-spiritual development

ONE DAY - £65

Explore spiritual belief systems and psychological concepts/practices.

Learn diaphragmatic breathing, visualisation and meditative techniques that enable you to reconnect with your intuition and support you on a daily basis.

Experience a deeper connection with yourself, others and the world around you.

This workshop will be a space to facilitate your own personal transition; to become aware of your ‘self-construct’ and the part of the self that doesn’t need to identify with this.

The workshop will include exploration of your own thoughts, emotions and behaviour in relation to your ‘ego’ self, in addition to learning about Jung’s concept of ‘The Shadow’.

We will also be exploring reactions to difficult mental and emotional states, learning more constructive ways of responding to the latter.

These workshops are experiential; a combination of discussion, questions, practical, visual and meditative exercises. Keeping a journal of the process is encouraged, but not obligatory.

Women and Anger

One day - £65

Explore anger and all its manifestations.

Identify what may prevent you from validating and expressing this emotion.

Learn ways in which you can utilise anger in order to empower yourself.

In western culture, we have grown up with a misguided approach to dealing with our emotions, particularly ‘difficult’ or perceived ‘negative’ emotions such as anger and rage.

Women in particular are not encouraged to validate and express anger, which has had negative consequences on a personal and collective level.

This workshop will provide a safe space for self-identified women to:

  • Discuss and share experiences

  • Take part in practical exercises that aim to challenge our limiting beliefs

  • Learn constructive ways of expressing anger.

  • Participate in a Visualisation

  • Key points will include:

Social construct and the impact on women ('The price of nice')

  • Consequences of avoiding anger

  • Reframing how we perceive our own anger

  • Validating our Anger

  • Highlighting common behavioural responses to anger

  • Dealing with anger in a constructive way

  • Follow up support
